How we spend your money

Our medical projects around the world are only possible thanks to the support of our donors. Your donations helped us to provide 98.0% independent humanitarian aid to those in need last year.

In 2023, 228,269 donors supported us from Belgium.
We are grateful to each of you. It is thanks to you that MSF can carry out their work and provide humanitarian medical aid where it is needed the most.

Together, we were able to make the difference in 2023 —thank you! 🎉

How does MSF uses your money?

Thanks to your support, our teams provided humanitarian medical aid and completed 116 projects in 46 countries. Please note that the figures we present here pertain only to the activities of the Brussels Operational Centre (OCB).

What proportion of the money goes directly to aid projects?

At Médecins Sans Frontières, we have an internal rule regarding the use of your donations. Each year, at least 80% of our expenditures are dedicated to our social mission, which includes field projects, direct support to these projects, and awareness actions.

Who oversees MSF's funds?

We deeply appreciate your trust, which is why we ensure rigorous oversight of our funds. Our statutory accounts are audited by DGST, and our consolidated international accounts are reviewed by Ernst & Young. To effectively manage your contributions, our finance department has put in place comprehensive measures, including regular reports, budget and cost analyses, internal audits, and controls both in the field and at headquarters. We also ensure that all funds, whether designated for specific projects or not, are managed with the utmost care. Médecins Sans Frontières adheres to the Ethical Fundraising Code.
